Don’t take our word for it. Read our pilots’ testimonials.

APS CPD

I visited AlphaTech after being made redundant feeling very deflated and anxious about the future. I had a Lauda sim assessment and booked 4 hrs in the A320 at AlphaTech to focus on raw data and crm. I never felt rushed or assessed. I received remarkable instruction from the AlphaTech instructors and my sim assessment at Lauda was the best I’ve ever done. The simulator itself is excellent, it does everything and more that a Level D device can do – James, Lauda Captain

APS CPD

Honestly, I wasn’t sure if I would need some sim time in preparation for my command course upgrade assessment, but after a full briefing and a four hour command course preparation at alpha tech, I discovered I could still learn something! Things that I hadn’t thought of before as a First Officer. Thanks again Alpha tech. Command course done.
Thoroughly recommended. – Dave, easyJet Captain

APS CPD

Excellent sim preparation course. Just enough data to make things gel together. Short notice was no problem. Would recommend and use AlphaTech again. – Sean, Aer Lingus First Officer

APS CPD

I had a brilliant experience at AlphaTech during my airline sim assessment preparation session. The instructors have an obvious wealth of experience within the industry and the A320 sim is of a very high standard and feels close to flying the real thing at a reasonable cost. – Sam, Wizzair First Officer

Frequently Asked Questions

Where are you located?

We are located close to Belfast, Northern Ireland. We have new locations in London and Vienna coming soon.

What type of Simulator?

Our Simulator is an Original A320 Simulator, built to FNPT II Standards, using EASA Approved Software.
–
Essentially, our simulator can do everything (and sometimes much more) that a Full Motion Flight Simulator can do, at a fraction of the cost.

How will APS CPD help me?

It’s important to understand that APS CPD is not an A320 Type Rating.

MCC CPD is used to consolidate and strengthen your MCC and CRM skills whilst learning the features and operational techniques of the Airbus A320 at an affordable price, something that is impossible elsewhere.

However, although it is technically not a type rating, the time in our A320 Simulator will become extremely valuable to you as a pilot and will reinforce your CV and show Airline employers your motivation and desire to become proficient in your career.

How is APS CPD Structured?

All sim exercises are training exercises and take the format, in most cases of LOFT.
–

Before your arrival we will supply you with your training manual which has Airbus Operational Philosophy and Standard Operating Procedures, We will also give you your flying schedule and briefing packs you will need.
–
We use a full EFB in our simulator and you will receive training on how to use this.

How long do I have to use the hours?

You have as long as you need, however we recommend spreading your hours over a few visits to us, over not more than 12 months. For example, if you have 20hrs MCC CPD, you may choose to visit twice over two days each time, using 5 hours on each day.

If you have 50hrs MCC CPD it may be that you visit us for three days, 3 times in 12 months, flying 5.5hrs each day.

You can allocate your hour usage as you require but we recommend at least a two day visit, flying at least 4 hrs each day. Our booking process is flexible and designed uniquely to suit you.

How can you support my career?

Since 2016, we have been supporting pilots and their careers. We specialise in Airline Simulator Assessment Preparation and have helped over 700 pilots get jobs with Airlines all around Europe, including easyJet, British Airways, Wizzair and Lauda, to name a few.
–
Your MCC CPD will be used to develop your skills as as Airline Pilot and to prepare you for your A320 Simulator Assessments when they happen.

Can I bring someone to fly with me?

Yes. Provided this person is also A320 Type Rated. Please be aware that to satisfy the criteria for the MCC CPD you will still be under supervision where required.

What is CPD?

CPD or Continued Professional Development is a recognised Training and Educational Award body.

Can the hours be logged in my logbook?

While the hours cannot be logged under FNPT II, we maintain that you absolutely should be logging any and all additional training, accredited or not, in your Synthetic Flight Training tab.
–
We suggest you insert the hours with the comment; supernumerary.

I am an experienced pilot, can I use APS CPD?

The short answer is yes. Although APS CPD is aimed at new pilots, we are glad to also support experienced pilots in developing their MCC CRM skills.

Do you recommend any local hotels or B&Bs?

We have relationships with some Premium and Budget hotels close to our location that offer discounts that are more attractive than what you could book online. We’re happy to help you with this, once we know your plans.
–
Naturally, you are free to book your own accommodation.

How far away are you from Belfast Airports?

We are approx 20 Minutes away from Belfast City Airport and approx 45 minutes from Belfast International Airport. We are 20 minutes away from Belfast City Centre.

Why is it so affordable?

We are committed to supporting pilots, first and foremost. Our goal is supply industry leading training at industry leading rates.  Applying a £200 hourly rate doesn’t fit our business ethos to support pilots and we prefer not to add undue financial pressure to pilots.
